I worked a retail job many years ago where store management even told employee they couldn’t leave the building during their 30 minute break since “there wasn’t enough time and you’d be late coming back.”
The companies legal department set the record straight on that one when they caught wine of it but I’m pretty sure there were never any consequences for the management.

Yup, buddy of mine managed to get his masters and a teaching certification while working in retail. Got a job teaching at a junior highschool and then ended up quitting after only two years. He took an entry level corporate IT help desk job and started off making more than twice as much as teaching with easily half the stress.
I’m struggling to see how. At the time the game first came out (when I played it) it was a flat subscription fee to pay, like most MMOs back then. It didn’t have any of the pay to win, micro transactiony gambling bullshit that was described by the person I replied to. It was just the game and the game was fun.
It sounds like it really went full enshitification with lootbox type stuff sometime after I quit so it was a very different experience for each of us.
That’s really unfortunate to hear. I played and enjoyed the game back when it first came out, before they added all the micro transaction stuff. I’ve thought about revisiting it a few times but never have.
