Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What questions do teens (14-18yo) have about choosing a career path, or navigating school and education options?
5·23 days agoNo longer a teen, but I remember liking the information laid out by https://www.bls.gov/ooh/
It broke down stats around career prospects, the education requirements to get into that career, the outlook of future job prospects in that career, etc. I didn’t really care too much about what job I worked, just that I had one, and then I could at least enjoy my life outside of it comfortably. I found a few that seemed interesting to me and worked to those. I think having it all laid out for them would be helpful for them to make their own informed decisions.
I very much so enjoyed their content where they attempted Linux only for 30 days straight. They documented their successes, struggles, and roadblocks. I think they did two different attempts, the first time they didn’t recommend it and the second time they did. I might be misremembering the first attempt.
Same, I was incredibly impressed that installing Linux ended up getting them a masters degree in business admin, and then realized they meant Macbook Air. I was let down a little, but still happy to see life of technology extended further.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmings over 30 who try to stay active, what are you doing to accommodate for your incredibly decrepit bodies to avoid boo-boos?
1·28 days agoThat is a dream for me. Thowe pads are the best from what I hear, but they’re so expensive! I haven’t tried itgmania, just mainly stepmania. Tried outfox a long time ago, though it might be different now and I should probably give that another shot.
Do you have any customization on your StepManiaX pads? You can do stuff with the patterns it shows when pressing a panel, yeah?

12·28 days agoITT: One half providing helpful insight into healthy physical activities, the other half total assholes ripping into this person for not being a jock.
Some people have been living sedantary life styles, the reasons for such can range from lack of interest to mental illness. Some people get a good dopamine hit from exercise. For others, exercise is a pretty miserable experience.
If someone is reaching out to seek advice on how to improve their lives, lend a helping hand. Please don’t be an asshole.

3·28 days agoDDR, Stepmania X, and Pump It Up are awesome and I very highly recommend! If you don’t have easy access to an arcade near you, you can download Stepmania and play on the PC. If you don’t have a pad to hook up to the PC, you can turn on Autoplay and just pretend that there’s a pad under you. You can also just pretend there’s a pad under you while you watch a youtube video (or whatever other platform if they’re there).
I get a bunch from people that don’t know what to do with them. I nuke the hard drive and then donate, these days. If I can’t nuke it, I take the platters out and destroy those. Haven’t come across with one with SSD yet, but it’s only a matter of time.
Before, Ibused to try to install different versions of Linux and just fix whatever issue the laptop had. Coolest thing I did was replace the charging port on one.

71·2 months agoVisitor to your grave: “…I need more context.”
Your ghost: “It’s about AI art.”
Visitor: “…I still don’t get it.”
Ghost: “That’s because you’re a robot. Everybody’s just robots now. Us ghosts are all that’s left of humanity. All that you know is based on what we suffered to learn and create.”
Robot visitor: “…but why a rat with a big butt?”
Ghost: “Draw one, and reflect on the cloud of noise that you produce instead.”
Robot: *draws a rat with a big butt
Ghost: “…AI wasn’t as good back then. Fuck you.” *whisps away
1% of 36 is .36, and .36 * 6 = 2.16. I’m a fan of this method most of the time, though the one in the OP is good for some math problems.

1·3 months agoI guess if that makes you happy. Seems like wasted time as opposed to just having the worker take it over and do the order, at which point speech recongition software isn’t being used.
