This depends on whether the other person is willing to do the same. I have a few basic premises which I base my political opinions on, starting with “All humans are of equal value.” If they come to different conclusions from first principles we can agree on, there is an interesting conversation to be had.
If someone has an entirely different set of basic principles, I will have a hard time understanding them, but if they are willing to try to understand mine, I will listen to them as well. I will give no time to someone whose mind is already made up.
EDIT: To more directly answer the question, I don’t think talking to a hardcore, true believer-type nazi will go anywhere, but if someone who had a right-leaning viewpoint handed to them by their upbringing and surroundings is willing to listen, I would at least want to know how they got where they are so I know how to best make them understand my own point of view. Is this the same as empathising? I couldn’t help myself but try to convince them of my point of view.
How do I know which Fedora I am at?

Wait is this already in reference to the xkcd about experts overestimating the average person’s knowledge about their subject or should I go look for it?

I don’t think this is needed, Lemmy is about the content, not about individual users. Adding more user focused functionality is what made reddit feel worse today than it did 10 years ago.

Really puts those awkward memories into perspective.
Care to elaborate?

Ready or Not is pretty cool, it’s basically a SWAT simulator. More lore than story though. Don’t know about DRM.

Not all nations rely in fossil fuels
Please list some countries that run on 100% renewables that are massively building AI datacenters, I’ll wait. Meanwhile, consider that useful things could be done with the energy required for AI. Even other uses for AI would be better, like automating menial labor or detecting cancer. Instead AI voices replace and devalue human artistic expression, not because they are better, but because they are cheaper.

I thought “conservatives” couldn’t invent a worse economic idea after “If the rich have more money, surely some of it will end up with the poor at some point”, but here is “Just make everything more expensive so it becomes cheaper”. Wow. It’s almost impressive at this point.

I’m gonna stop being passive and pleasant and start speaking my mind.

The .ml admins are, to put it mildly, far left. That’s why it’s great to have other instances like lemmy.world, feddit.org etc. If you don’t agree with how the admins run an instance you can make an account somewhere else without missing out on content.

They’re puttin’ cameras in the cars to turn the friggin’ trucks gay! (/s for those who don’t know the reference)
Why?

Ty and That Guy, if you’re into movies. They are Ty Frank and Wes Chatham. The Podcast started as an episode by episode discussion oft The Expanse (Ty was an Executive producer and co-author of the novel series and Wes played Amos), but they branched out to just talk about any movies they like. Amazing insider knowledge there.

If I had a Tesla, I would look into selling it, but I wouldn’t be in a hurry if it’s still in working order. Replacing a working car is neither environmentally nor economically sustainable.

I think this is why Fairphone chose an SoC that is usually used in industrial/IoT hardware for the FP5. They’ll apparently get software support from Qualcomm until 2028.
Trump was shot at at a rally. Grazed his ear, his security escorted him off stage after a minute or so. There’s a photo of him with a bloody ear, surrounded by his bodyguards, fist raised, with the flag in the background. Crazy good photo, arguably historic already.
Beer? (Not an alcoholic, just an engineering student)
