Hope you aren’t using a phone to send this. Who knows what could happen during that time. Maybe someone puts the big red launch nukes button under your foot and you start nuclear winter when you go to stand up.

Oh, true. Doubly hopefully stopped if they’re that close to the vehicle in front of them.
Looks like some sort of red light is off to the side, so probably stopped?
Plus side of being federated is it’s easy to just switch to one of your alts on another instance and still be able to use it.

12·26 days agoicebox is sorta similar.
You also get to occasionally blow out your fluids after playing with it for a bit.

16·30 days agoOther times, it’s more direct coded language and symbols. It’s probably less unknown these days, but some common examples of codes are the sonnenrad ‘Black Sun’ symbol, Nazi-era pseudo-runes (not to be confused with legitimate historical Germanic runes!), the numbers 14 and 88, and more.
I know someone who used 88 in a username on accident, not knowing how cryptonazis use it. He found out because he got called out for it and asked to explain. After finding out what 88 can mean, he changed his username because he didn’t want to be mistaken as a nazi. TBF, his initial reaction was “wtf, why would someone suggest I’m a nazi and want to ban me because I have some numbers at the end of my name?” I think some people take it for granted that others are aware of these things.
My pills only help with the opposite problem. For some reason, none of the guys I know seem interested when I offer to share. 😕

Linux@lemmy.ml•What distro do you install on other's computers?
9·1 month agoFor somethings, it makes it harder to install so being immutable sometimes adds an extra hurdle. But for the type of people who wouldn’t install the OS themselves, they aren’t going to try those methods anyways and if they did, they wouldn’t know enough to not break things. So this is what I was thinking.
OTOH, it makes it harder to get find answers since its less popular than the parent OS’s and fedora instructions often don’t apply, so if they ever do get interested in learning more it could be a hurdle. But they’re just gonna ask me to deal with it, and I’m currently using bazzite (+ windows dual-boot for work stuff).
There’s medicine that can help with that problem.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you believe in Supernatural things?
8·2 months agoSeems like a pretty clear answer though. Just like asking if you asked if free will exists, the only response I could give is “WTF is a free will?” Even if my answer ended with a question mark, I know you know what I mean.

311·2 months agoThere was a drop of about 3% on Friday because of rumors of tariffs/insider trading. Trump waited for markets to close on Friday to officially announce it. But futures don’t look bad anyways.
Also Crypto fluctuation, as usual, have been more than that. Bitcoin is only down like 7% over the last week and 3.4% over the last 3 months, but its up like 80% YOY, so hardly a problem if this has been a long-term thing.

Technology@lemmy.world•In bizarre move, Framework embraces deeply extremist viewsEnglish
2·2 months agoIf you invite nazis to your table, guess what you are?
And Ellison is deeply involved in controlling the US media landscape and the second wealthiest person on the planet. Ellison/Oracle are crab-rave bad. Framework is just “I’m not paying tons of extra money to support them and their philosophy” bad.
I thought with one of them, it was “just” using the official platform to promote it dozens of times.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is your reason for not flipping to Linux?
2·2 months agoI used Zorin back in like 2014 on a cheap laptop that didn’t have a good enough battery or much RAM, so windows was pretty annoying on it. The hotkeys didn’t work, but that was still better than dealing with windows on it.
A few years later, I tried dual-booting for my work laptop with Mint and it would break frequently. After reinstalling both OSes for like the 4th time in a year, I just gave up and went back to windows only due to specific software I needed windows for at the time.
Been meaning to give Linux another try, but been procrastinating on it like lots of other projects.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you have any allergies?
5·2 months agoMost plants, mold, mildew, cockroaches, milk, and nickel are the ones I can think of. Was funny when I got a prick test, they were training someone, so they were sorta happy I was so reactive to so many things because it meant they got to show how to rate the severity of all the dozens of bumps.

Back when I last tried LM gnome, it would fail to get to the log-in screen every couple weeks. So far haven’t had any major issues with bazzite kde.
