Can we not pretend? Sometimes hard to definitively identify a drone that was shot down. And a copied Iranian drone could be hard to pin down too. But we all know and can see who sent them.

7 hard drives at 12TB each in your luggage?

Shower. I do it while the conditioner is “working”.
But on the positive side, someone is finally attacking the last obstacle to using our expensive hardware however we want to: device drivers. I’m hopeful.

Something I really envy is the EU controls on food. Much of what passes for food here in the US is heavily processed, GMO, misleadingly labeled, etc.

Oh sure just a routine trip out of the country hours after being released from a felony arrest. Nothing to see here 🙄

Your very long comment reveals that you understand the analogy but would rather complain about it than address it. Russia invaded Ukraine and is killing it’s people, correct? Digging deep into the geopolitical history to find some kind of reason is very much like apologizing for this murderer. It’s not an academic pursuit or a fun problem to study, it’s “I’ve got tanks and disposable people, I’m taking your land”.

When the schoolyard bully is on top of you, punching you in the face, it feels inappropriate to contemplate his bad childhood.

He (or you) ascribes alot of nuance and careful consideration to someone who has demonstrated nothing but malice and avarice. Putin clearly cares nothing for both the people of Ukraine and his own people. Why are we trying so hard to be understanding to a murderous dictator?

Seems to ignore the reason why Putin wants a non-NATO neighbor, namely so he can invade and control it.
What about “automod”? What if there’s no response?

Lemmy mods respond to messages?

A nice explanation of what’s wrong with web-based AI. I hope other content providers follow suit.
I’ve been running Pi-Hole on a B since 2018. It has always worked perfectly and is still kicking.

I did this same move two years ago. Make a list of critical must have functions. Get a second storage drive like your current one, swap out the old and install Kubuntu. Get those critical apps installed and tested. Create a virtual machine out of your old primary drive. Boot that inside Linux when needed.
Thinking about lunch, it’s 12:15pm here. Getting over a cold for the last few days.
This is exactly what I did. Later I copied my old system to a VM and I boot it up inside Linux when needed.

Search is to Google as F150 is to Ford…anything that threatens it makes the whole thing crumble.
Windows 10 decided to update a machine in a client’s office. The update took 4 hours and the employee could do zero during that time. A few weeks later a Win 10 machine at the same office crashed and would not start. I was left googling error codes from the BSOD. Nothing worked and I had to reinstall. I decided I needed to get my own work stack off of windows. I installed Kubuntu. 2 years later and I like KDE, I like the Debian base, I hate snap, but mostly I’m working and productive.
