Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Docker or Proxmox? Something else entirely?English
1·11 months agoYes that’s exactly how I run it. I backup the PBS vm separately also, in case the host goes down

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Docker or Proxmox? Something else entirely?English
2·11 months agoProxmox is great. I run each service in its own lxc/vm. Many of the vms also run docker. Probably overkill, but backups and restores via Proxmox Backup Server are super easy when segregated this way

Linux@lemmy.ml•How I gave up a one-game addiction to switch to 100% Linux (long story warning)
18·1 year agoWelcome to the dark side. Steamdeck also got me onto Linux fully around Fall 2022 and I’ve never looked back. Glad you’re here!!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can you give me some tips about your niche hobby?
3·1 year agoI do both reading and listening here and there but never thought to combine the two. Will give it a shot
I want to switch to Incus so bad but I’m deep into proxmox. Anyone have recommendations of how best to migrate?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People with wide or flat feet - what are your favorite shoes?
2·2 years agoI recommend Softstar shoes. They mostly have leather shoes offerings and some shoes come in their “primal” width which are generously wide. However I do have uneven feet with one foot that doesn’t even fit in Softstars correctly. But they’re still the shoes I choose because the leather has some stretch over time
I’m introvert myself and enjoyed Eve very much in the past. You can always be a fly-on-the-wall in a big/medium corporation and still do your own thing if you don’t feel like socializing. Or go corpless. Man I miss Eve…

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Linkwarden - An open-source collaborative bookmark manager to collect, organize and preserve webpages | July 2024 Update - New iOS App, Full Page Copy, User Administration and more... 🚀English
2·2 years agoMy use case may be a bit niche… but I use multiple Firefox profiles for different things and relying on only Firefox sync didn’t workout for me. Hosting linkwarden for just myself was the perfect solution for me
Wow Larry contributed to these old Broadcom drivers?! I’m using them to this day on my old macbook. RIP

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•What do you use the back buttons for?
0·2 years agoI use the back buttons for all sorts of stuff. But the most common use is remapping ABXY to them. That way, I dont have to lift my thumb off the joysticks as much.
Also some games have easier menu navigation with a mouse, so I’ll map left and right click to r1 and l1 and use a track pad to navigate menus.
Love Thunder. It looks great and works great.
I’ve also been using Alexandrite on desktop since my server admins have it set up and prefer it over the default ui

Linux@lemmy.ml•Which communication protocol or open standard in software do you wish was more common or used more?English
12·2 years agoMatrix can be configured to have VoIP. I have it set up on my server. Haven’t tried it in group voice chat setting yet though. Only 1 on 1

From what I’ve seen about foveated rendering, I don’t think developers need to do anything. It should just be “on” for any streamed content
