Just went from Bazzite to Steam OS on my TV PC. It’s a little less flexible but I don’t use desktop mode for much on the TV or want to install anything outside a few emulators and external game launchers. I’ve had too many updating issues with Bazzite over the years. The recent deal breaker was sunshine broke preventing it from updating.

My dog wouldn’t get out of her bed the other morning. It was too the point I was laying on the floor hugging her and sobbing. I thought I’d get her a treat if this was it. As soon as my hand hit the box she was up faster than a lightning bolt. She’s been normal since, I guess she was just sleepy that day.

I literally have to think about dependancies every time i install a python script in Debian. It always says its externally managed and use pipx. Then its not in pipx so i have to make a venv. Any other language i download and compile and it only cares about dependancies at build time.

Its a lot easier to find a misplaced semicolon than a double space that should have been single. With C i can make the code visually easier for me to read. I just gotta remember to end the line with ;

I try to avoid python for two main reasons. While coding, white spaces. Who thought that was a good idea? While using, shared dependancies, again who thought thay was a good idea? I have to use pipx or manually make a venv otherwise python scripts start breaking each other. May as well just package it with its own dependancies from the get go.

Dang you will be impressed with the screen on anything you pick up. Resolution and contrast on the text is much better these days.

Why in the world is Fedora peak enlightenment. Any well run, simple, community run distro is peak enlightenment.

I have barely had any of those issues in almost 20 years of linux use. The worst I remember dealibg with was cups back in the day. Certainly almost everything I’ve installed linux on in the last 10 years has just worked.

The only exception has been installing linux on old chrome books.

Add on Solus too. It is an independent distro.

Its fucking impossible to get new kids to read the manual. They just resort to asking others for stuff they could look up. When I was new I asked the old timers as a last resort. Not because they’d be mean about it, but because I know I wouldn’t learn as well just being handed information.

Portland area, Bend and Eugene are blue, the rest of the state is red as hell. Its pretty safe west of the cascades but that high desert is full of nut jobs.
