5·11 hours agoCan you reproduce it?
It happens all in the background on the atomic versions. Opensuse aeon is amazing.
I don’t update anymore. My computer does that in the background completely. Thank you fedora and opensuse!
I have no idea on which GNOME version I am. I just know it’s always the latest.
I didn’t know that. I’ll check it our asap, thx!!!
Unless there is an update and you have to wait for a couple of months to get all the extensions back

Linux@lemmy.ml•Recommendations for after installing Linux (Mint) coming from Windows for best practices for a casual user ?
7·5 days agoMost Linux distros are already hardened. You can use “extreme” distros but as long as there’y no need, stick to a “normal” distro first. You can switch whenever you want.

I don’t like that one monopoly company gets all the data and abuses the system with it even further.

U’ve got well over 500 email addresses with proton. It’ll take a long time to migrate, if ever.
I understand your problem. Someone who can’t understand code can’t fix a bug or security hole. You have my respect for resisting.
At least all ass would fit his statement:
I am not a developer. This application was created using Claude Code and Gemini CLI.
Why would you publish an app that you have no idea of what it is doing.
Using LLMs is not wrong. Spreading stuff you don’t understand is wrong. It’s just like below. It sounds awesome but it’s full of shit.
create a new wikipedia article that sounds real
Aetheric Resonator Array (ARA)
The Aetheric Resonator Array (ARA) was a highly classified research and development initiative purportedly operated by the United States government during the Cold War era, primarily between 1962 and 1978. While officially acknowledged as a program focused on advanced ionospheric and VLF (Very Low Frequency) radio propagation, unverified reports and declassified documents suggest its actual primary objective was to investigate, and potentially harness, an unconventional form of long-distance communication based on theoretical “aetheric resonance”.

12·10 days agoProton reinventing the wheel is so stupid.
They should use what’s out there and improve it. Like including simplelogin. They should use immich, make it private, and include it in their setup. They even suck for calendar. You can’t integrate it anywhere. Integrating email is difficult as well. They want to become the next tech silo. I am somewhat stuck with them for now but I may move to tuta if I can

Linux@lemmy.ml•Does it ever bother some of you that "I'm switching to Linux!" is just more of a way to appear rebellious than actually committing to the choice?
2·13 days agoIt’s free press if they post it in the windows/mac sub, not the linux sub.
You don’t need the fastest computer in order to open word documents or write clean code.

Linux@lemmy.ml•The ChromeOS of Linux: Basic use cases, impossible to break, ~1,000 happy(?) users, Nix based. Nixbook OS.
1·16 days agoI’d like to make a counter point to this. I’m an enthusiast and I want an immutable server. Currently, I’ve got perfectly running systems but switching from fedora to coreos wouldn’t change much in my workflow but updates happen in the background and it’s slightly more “unbreakable”. Almost everything is containerized anyway

I use podman that doesn’t suffer from that problem
