2·28 days agoIt’s not as easy to find good, living blogs/sites off major platforms but if you can a lot of them do this. Book Notification has a weekly list that you can opt into, for example. The Indie RPG Newsletter has tons of TTRPG recommendations.
I think we’re back to the point where things need to spread by word of mouth though, because discoverability is so difficult for little indie blogs.

2·29 days agoI try to shy away from extremely hateful, violent thoughts but I genuinely think that great suffering needs to be visited upon the demon that came up with putting advertisements in gas pumps.
Ditto, definitely had relatives literally saying the 2008 point for me after graduation.

2·1 month ago“The 3.5% participation metric may be useful as a rule of thumb in most cases; however, other factors—momentum, organization, strategic leadership, and sustainability—are likely as important as large-scale participation in achieving movement success and are often precursors to achieving 3.5% participation.”
I feel like this needs to be underlined. Leadership figureheads, especially ones who can delegate or inspire others to act as sub-commanders, would be huge.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to communicate and organize hierarchy in the climate we’re in now.

27·2 months agoAnecdotally, I was tinkering with it earlier this year and finally stopped being lazy and flipped my main PC over. After I talked about it enough in my friend chat, three more friends followed suit and a fourth is going to soon. It’s not just the end of supporting Windows 10, it’s all of the repeated bugs, glitches, and AI garbage Microsoft has been pushing everywhere so aggressively. People who would likely only rate themselves as “mildly” tech savvy are sick of it and willing to make a move, I feel.

9·2 months agoI try to never underestimate what people are willing to do, like, and put up with for whatever reasons.
Considering how un-tech savvy newer generations are, I would not be shocked if the idea of being able to tell a computer what to do and “it just does it” appeals. This is, of course, assuming it works as intended (lol.)
I also see this as a further dumbing down of that ability to understand tech. Hypothetically, if this were to launch, go mainstream, and the vast majority of future computer users use it, can you imagine a world in which a future teenager looks confused and goes, “What’s an app?”

51·2 months agoThe devs are also pretty responsive to bug reports!
I will say that they themselves have mentioned that there is kind of a limit in library size because the project is meant to serve “small to modest personal libraries” but I think it was ranked as a few thousand, so that won’t be a problem for most people I think.

“Okay, and here are your action items…”
Silence for two weeks thereafter. :D
