Half of them were already False for me. I think I remember right clicking and seeing an AI option that I said no to. That probably disabled some of the features listed.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Dry Shampoo is the teenage girl equivalent to teenage boys' Axe Body SprayEnglish
351·9 days agoNah, dry shampoo has legit use-cases. Axe body spray can be replaced with any other spray-on deodorant.

Technology@beehaw.org•My Car Is Becoming a Brick: EVs are poised to age like smartphones.English
244·10 days agoI think what is being implied is EVs will have planned obsolescence even if they are perfectly working fine, like smartphones. Whether it be irreplaceable batteries, or software updates not being backward compatible. Regular cars are capable of lasting until they literally break down and die.
Nah that’s fine IMO. Even better is to make it oil-based instead of tomato-based. Use the oil the sardines came with and add some butter and garlic.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If it were possible to travel back in time and manipulate events, we could take a book back in time and publish it before the author historically does... as a prank...English
8·17 days agoFor full chaos, send back a history book and watch people try to change it, for better or for worse.

Oh this post just reminded me to take the bins back in. Thanks.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If we ever find a planet with life in it, we could never set foot on it, because the interaction of the two biologies can have unpredictable consequencesEnglish
122·23 days agoWe won’t even be able to reach it until we can figure out FTL travel or technology that can support multi-generational passenger ships to get there.
My journey was Ubuntu/Lubuntu, PeppermintOS, #!, BunsenLabs, Antergos, Arch, and now Mint. It’s basically the bell curve meme where the guy uses the most basic one in the end.
And if I run into an issue, I just do a web search and copy paste the first terminal command I see.

No way! Is that why it’s been timing out a lot lately? Oh man, I like Leta. I’ve been using it for several months now. Sigh, I guess it’s back to startpage (and ddg).

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think about each Lemmy instance trying to be a Reddit alternative?English
1·1 month agoI think it’s because it deters some people from joining the instance. Yes, an instance with more focus like slrpnk doesn’t necessarily mean they only talk about climate, as you can interact with other federated instances anyway. But people who are new or aren’t very familiar with how federation works gravitate towards general purpose instances because they either don’t have a preference or they don’t want to be “locked in” to a focused instance (even if it’s not true), or that access to content will be limited (also not true). That’s why .world and .ee (rip) are/were popular.

Not just the US. Philippines, Togo, Cayman Islands, and Greenland apparently also use MM/DD/YYYY in some way or form. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_date_formats_by_country
