Whenever one or both of us are working in the kitchen, she stretches out on the floor. She isn’t waiting for scraps, she’s just hanging out, providing a helpful tripping hazard.
It’s a masterful play. She may not be actively seeking scraps, but if one happens to fall, can’t let it go to waste. On the other hand, if you do trip on her, you may feel so inclined to apologize with a treat from the table. Absolutely devious.
Oops you dropped yer sausage
It’s the rule of dogs. If you’re up doing something, they must lay in the most inconvenient spot to block your way. My dog goes from tripping hazard to laying blocking the refrigerator door.
My childhood dog Zeus did something similar:
He would be on whichever story of the house that the people were. When there was two or more people on BOTH stories, he’d just lie on the middle step of the stairs waiting for us all to eventually come to him 😄🥹
