technically you will still be able to install apps from outside the play store, but the developer will need to verify their identity with google.

Of course, most developers will refuse to do so (myself included), and so most apps will not be able to be installed. From a technical perspective, installing apps from other sources will still be allowed. So i can see judges ruling that this is not a feature removal.

You and I both know this is google killing non play store apps, but I don’t think the tech illiterate judges will see it that way.

If you’re using your phone, definitely check out YouTube revanced. Or if on a tv check out Smart tube next. No ads, sponsor block baked in. It’s all the perks of premium (plus more) without the cons of supporting an evil company

You need an ID for those activities because it is required by law. Apples and oranges. Your argument is a logical fallacy of false equivalency.

A government dictating what you can and cannot do by law is a completely different thing than some random company telling you what you can and can’t do with a device you own.

And again, if you’re uncomfortable with that - then you still have the option of only downloading apps via the play store where identities are already verified.

So again, it’s the gay marriage argument - do you support the freedom of others to do something you may not want to do? Or would you rather restrict others freedom when it doesn’t effect you? If it’s the latter, then I think you’re an objectively bad person.

As an Australian, I was trying to buy a record (only available from the US, from a small independent artist). The record was about $60AUD, very reasonable. The shipping was $70AUD. I didn’t buy it.

Or another small artist manufactured a super cool colour splitting lamp. Lamp was about $140, quite reasonable. Shipping was about $110. I didn’t buy it.

Supporting any small american artist is just not justifiable.

I buy on reverb quite a bit and with expensive music grear I’m suspicious of free shipping. I’d much rather pay for shipping to ensure they actually package and ship it with care.

With free shipping, if it’s packed like shit I can’t really complain, if I spend $30, on shipping and it’s packed like shit, I’m gonna question it

Bluetooth alternatives aren’t better, that’s laughable.

You cant buy beyerdynamics DT-990s with Bluetooth, you cant get Sennheiser HD 490 Pros with Bluetooth, you cant buy Audeze LCD-5s with Bluetooth. I could go on and on but you get the point. Good headphones don’t use Bluetooth.

The nice headphones a lot of us have had for years, well before the headphone jack was removed don’t have Bluetooth.

So when you say they’re better 1. You’re wrong. And 2. You’re missing the point.

If you prefer Bluetooth, fine, but phones with headphone jacks still have Bluetooth. You’re only ok with it because it doesn’t effect you and I think that’s appalling.

Imagine phone manufacturers remove the ability to use Bluetooth headphones and I say “that’s fine, wired headphones are better anyway”. It’s not about that, it’s about removing your freedom to choose and it should NOT be tolerated

I’ve never had a plumber not charge a callout fee. Same applies for any trade. Idk where you live that you don’t, but in my experience, any kind of tradesperson will always charge a fee for their commute

I’ve never owned an iPhone, but I 100% agree with you. The reason I choose android is because of the freedom to use my phone how i want (for the most part).

Apple is a walled garden, but their security is good, they’re not an advertising company in the same way google is and don’t have as much of an incentive to harvest and sell your data. If android is going to be a walled garden like iOS, I trust apple more than i do google and If in the future I can’t find a phone that has all the features i want anyway, then i may as well just get an iPhone.

when you buy a banana at the grocery store, show me the receipt that you paid for the shipping of said banana. When you buy a computer keyboard, show me the receipt for the ‘F’ key. When you buy a TV, show me the receipt for the capacitors.
