Really surprised the current government regime actually cares about this, because it’s about scamming the populace.

Not the other commenter but the meme infers USSR was better, and infers people knew what was to happen afterwards. Russia was making progress a little bit before Putin. I constantly think about what if I wasn’t adopted. I’ll probably be dead, forced to fight on the wrong side of war in Ukrainian. Then again idk what the USSR would be if it never fallen, completely blocking foreigners from adopting their orphans.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Amazon should've made Prime Day fall on a date corresponding to an actual three-digit prime number.
2·1 year agoBack in the olden days before digital calculators, people had tricks like that to help them do mental math.
Some thing needs to keep the court in check and remove the bad apples.
Even on windows 10, Onedrive uploaded random crap you don’t want and then yells at you that the space is full and buy a subscription. It has to be the worst cloud service of them all because of the bullshit integration. It was easier to disable and remove it than to work with it.
Microsoft ignoring Linux exists is prime anticompetitive behavior. It causes problems that Linux installations have to go around. I learned that when installing a dual boot configuration.

103·2 years agoMost battery tech is just lithium ion batteries wired in series, like 80 laptop batteries. They regulate the temps so that the batteries don’t degrade too fast. Battery tech hasn’t changed much in decades, so you will see the same problems on your phone battery on car batteries. So, no, Tesla battery tech isn’t special.
I recently heard china is the first to manufacture sodium ion batteries for their consumer EVs. Sodium is supposed to be better, but I forget why.
Deserved.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Toilet Theory of the Internet: Google is serving an audience that wants quick and easy results. That may lead to disaster.English
211·2 years agoI don’t mind looking through several pages of results, but the problem is that many results are the same web domains, which causes glazed-over eyes seeing the same results. So, I think it’s the search engine’s fault for this behavior, at least for me.

63·2 years agoPaid version of Boost. I could mute things without having an account, because I couldn’t decide on which instance to select. Filters didn’t reset either when I finally got an account. Non-account browsing was limited to lemmy.word pov though. I’ll still shop around if an app catches my eye.
