I’m not a lawyer, but my guess is that this is more about publicly admonishing the DOJ lawyers to encourage them not to file them in the first place. There’s a difference between telling someone “No” and telling someone “Are you fucking kidding me with this stupid shit?”

A quick Google shows that there’s no real evidence of involvement. It seems like Epstein might’ve been trying to arrange for her to be present at a dinner with Gates, like as in him wanting Gates to get her there? Uncertain. I wasn’t particularly rigorous though. I’m not claiming to have strong context.
