Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How is it even possible/practical to obey traffic laws?
1·2 years agoIt was in LA. No one did a full stop at stop signs. Even saw police cars drive right through. Why not make one road a priority, and then have yield signs on the others? Makes more sense

2·2 years agoSame. The opinions of other do not matter. At all. I have a nice beer that I can drink instead.

World News@lemmy.ml•Nearly 80% of Texas' floating border barrier is technically in Mexico, survey finds
13·2 years agoTotally nothing to do with the Rio Grande-case, but I find it interesting seeing how borders are drawn when time goes on. Look at the original 13 states in the US. Lines are squiggly, and made with care after the terrain. Then, some time has passed, and the US started to grow eastwards. Then the borders were made quickly with rulers.
You see the same in Australia. NSW and Victoria is a bit squiggly for a while, but then the colonisers said “hand me the fucking ruler, cunt!”

Agree. Fuck Sweden
Winter: Closed. It can get to -25C where I live, and I need to sleep with the window open. I don’t want the rest of my house ruined with the door open.
Summer: depends on the heat. If OK, closed. If too hot, door ajar

My employer pays for it
Edit: I lied. My girlfriends employer also pays for it. We technically make money from it

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What movie scared you shitless when you were a child?English
1·2 years agoWe had strict film censorship laws when I was young, that was based on a law made in 1912. A government agency watched and age rated every film that was meant for public screening. Even films for adults 18+. Some films got banned (Life of Brian). Luckily they stopped doing this all together in 2001. Now the state censorship only applies to films directed specifically at children.
In the early 90s I had watched so many “illegal” films despite the state censorship and what my parents said I was allowed to. I had friends with older siblings, and I had older siblings my self. I was never a horror film film, but I liked action, explosions and violence!
