Ive had Trilium running for 2 years and it’s been perfect for me but I’m not a power user of it. I’ve yet to upgrade to Trilim Next, simply not needing anything more. I guess all I can say is it hasn’t eaten my data.

I have Immich on a proxmox container and use proxmox backup. It has already save me once.

I need an easy option to auto sync and backup my elderly parents phone pictures. That also wont propagate deletetions from either side. Im aiming for a failsafe style setup that they cant screw up.

Immich has been working well thus far. Due to the constant updates I have had a few issues to resolve after updates. Backup the backup!

After listening the video where they discussed immich joining futo, I don’t have any worries. I have high hopes futo might actually be the company I have long hoped would emerge. Time will certainly tell.

I think people are getting hung up on the word license too much. Though I agree futo should have gone with a better word choice for clarity. License just means supporter in this case.

At best it will add whatever the extra hop is and any network congestion. My VPS host is 2200km away. I should find a closer one… but it adds 160ms with some spikes in the 200-300 range. This is round trip 4400km roughly All things considered not too bad. My VPS is a 1vCPU, 1GB ram, 1Gbit unmetered, only as wireguard server. Hope that helps.

I sent you a message They are bit bare bones compared to other host but I haven’t had any issues with them in over a year. On the wireguard side you’re looking for a spoke and hub setup.

I’m in the same boat so I setup a $2.50/mo VPS and that’s my gateway. It took a little bit to get the nftables on vps to work right. I’d recomemned tailscale or similar if you want easy, though I’ve not ever used them myself.

I’ve used raspberry pi os and shortly arch arm, both work ok. I remeber having an issue with some python packages on arch arm, but thats it. Personally I chose Debian testing for my headless pi4 and have been happy. It’s running Syncthing, Mariadb, a few python scripts to pull data from pi pico-w. FTP server for IP cameras recording, Pydio, Pihole, and Gitea.

Syncthing is great for mirroring files across any number of devices. I use it and love it. Just remember Syncthing itself, is not a backup solution.
