It’s difficult to follow. It’s like they are drunkenly telling their side of the story to someone who already knows what happened.

Recovering academic now in public safety. You’ll find me kibitzing on brains (my academic expertise) to critical infrastructure and resilience (current worklife). Also hockey, games, music just because.

We sometimes play a game around here where we’ll turn off the volume during a commercial and try to guess what they’re advertising. It’s harder than you might imagine for unfamiliar ads.
I think ads are super effective for some demographics. Children are probably the best target market. Teenagers, particularly those who seek external validation or align to external norms are a sweet spot. Old guys like me? No effect whatsoever.

6·3 months agoThat’s interesting. In North America this was largely litigated during the era of film photography and common law went in the other direction. You do not have control over being recorded or photographed in a situation where there is not have a reasonable expectation of privacy - at least for non-commercial purposes. Restaurants and walking around in public are classic examples of this.
I honestly wasn’t even aware of jurisdictions that had an opposite approach.

Weak cocktail, sad garden. Adult better.
They address this in the book From Russia With Love. Everybody knows the station chief of Instanbul is a spy. He doesn’t even hide it. As he says, there are advantages and disadvantages. Certainly anyone with information knows where to go.

35·5 months agoThe Spice Girls were real stuff. They were put together but revolted against the producers who were trying to control the group. In an infamous episode they stole the masters for what became the first album and released it themselves.
