I agree, superior brewing methods were invented more than 50 years ago 😉

They also know what drip brew coffee is, you have no point worth making.
Electric drip Brewers and paper filters for coffee making are European things. The only ‘American’ brewing method I can think of is using an aero press or maybe instant coffee.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was a fact taught to you in school that has been proven false during your lifetime?
1·8 months agoNot a polymer but an amorphous solid like many polymers; I believe she popped that nugget while explaining crystallinity and glass transitions. She was quite knowledgeable otherwise but that little false factoid must have slipped through.

3·8 months agoIt’s also not the reason church windows are thicker at the bottom, a common myth that my ex-colleague with a PhD in polymer chemistry(!) somehow bought into

Now I’m getting confused. Are DDG and Qwant not proxies for Bing?

Technology@lemmy.world•I'm Tired of Pretending Tech is Making the World BetterEnglish
33·10 months agoOr… ask the staff for a menu, order with them, respectfully let them know how you feel about the qr/app thing (unlikely it was their decision to implement but they can pass on the complaint), and if they’re unwilling to take your order (which is hopefully unlikely at this point) feel free to make a little stink (if you feel inclined) and walk out. Still ok to complain on your blog about being spammed with the app but I’d rather try the obvious options first rather than expect the owners to heuristically discover via non-returning customers that we really don’t want the app.
That is, if the coffee/food/service is good, otherwise yea fuck em

Technology@lemmy.world•Why can't we go back to small phones?English
8·10 months agoI picked the Sony Xperia 1v because:
- 71mm width (similar to pixel 8)
- Flagship specs (*for 2023 - Snapdragon 8 gen2 / 12gb)
- not Google Samsung or Apple
- little to no bloatware
- Decent cameras
- SD card expandable
- Headphone jack 3.5mm (though I haven’t used it yet)
- No glass back (and solid build quality allround)
- LineageOS support (for when vendor support runs out)
- I got a good refurb deal in 2024
I was considering a Zenphone 10 or Xperia 5 v - mainly for size and brand reasons as above - when i found this for £650

ChatGPT and Copilot said Rishi Sunak and Nicola Sturgeon were still in office even after they had left
Perplexity misquoted BBC News in a story about the Middle East, saying Iran initially showed “restraint” and described Israel’s actions as “aggressive”
