I don’t think the bubble will burst like we are used to. AI is part of the arms race between nations. So they will shore the industry up at all costs.
As for the choice to shut down the brand. It will be years before all that infra gets built. Better to sit the time out and revive the brand when prices are reasonable enough that hobbyists and such are willing to pay them.

When you start needing reading glasses, you’ll know. I have a phone for outside the house and a tablet for home. I would much rather just have one device be both.

On the flip side what choice will they have after sony’s AI gets them cut off by claiming rights to the pictures of thier own kids on facebook. They will need lots of tech to get back online. And we know there are people who will find a way to make it dead simple.

Well, they are in fact human. Trying to understand how they got the way they are is the first step to trying to not let more of them happen. That said, the rotten apple is still an apple. But in the end, I am still going to throw it away.

I do look forward to the day that I can have a phone that unfolds into a tablet size. I have two devices because my old ass has trouble reading and typing on a phone. But that is going to take an extra dimension of folding.

Pixel? By google? I can’t imagine they aren’t collecting a ton of data on users. It’s thier whole business model. I don’t know about the others, but by including the pixel I am dubious if the others are any better than samsung.

They were all great ideas (though jericho wasn’t necessarily original), that if you grabbed some great writers could be modernized to be awesome. But since they didn’t have a wide audience, they never will happen unless I use this power. Most of the others mentioned here will eventually get redone.

Sounds like you forgot to consider the energy cost of developing each AI model. Developing and maintaining a model is vastly more energy intense than 3d game dev. Keep in mind that you can ship a 3d game and ramp down gpu use for dev. But an AI model has to be constantly updated, mostly by completely retraining. Also, noone was clamoring to build massive data centers just to develope one game. Yet they are for one model.

You’re both right. The extreme hype means it isn’t yet all that useful. But it doesn’t mean it won’t get there. Once it is there, they won’t need to hype it as much.

The root of the issue is allowing officer to lie in order to deprive people of thier rights.

Sadly, if it is in the cloud, it can get hacked far more easily than on your local. But neither is really safe. And very few people can stomach what they would have to do to improve thier odds.

Most of history is full of men pillaging and raping to get sex. And they were willing to possibly die to get that sex in which the women had no choice. She couldn’t turn them down. If she told them they weren’t good in the sack, they would beat her, maybe kill her. So I don’t think that emotional itch is anywhere near as strong as you think. As always there are exceptions, but history shows those exceptions are a small minority.
