Oh God, you’re right! How did I forget about shareholder value?!?

A few large players and the ability to choose smaller instances, and have them speak to each other, is still a huge upgrade over one player (Reddit) who doesn’t let other social media federate with it.
Not as good as the ideal fediverse, but a step in the right direction.

This sounds like the ironically good version of the Nemesis System patent - no AI helpers in non-Microslop games for the next 20 years.

Why not just put in a “skip” button?

You can also run it independently since it’s actually open (unlike OpenAI).
Maybe rent cloud compute locally for low latency if you don’t have enough RAM sticks to feed the AI with?

Except unlike with Reddit, we can still have the small independent instances. And there will probably be more users on them in the future than there are Lemmy users today.

Idk, this is just a personal experience meme
With things like Heroic Launcher, Proton support on Steam, easy Linux export on Godot… the idea that you can’t play games on Linux is the real “meme”.

oh yeah, I enabled that too. it’s peak(man)
why do people assume I get intimidated by installing an arch package?
Mainly due to senior coworker influence lmao. I’m planning to VM some other KDE distros soon, but Arch is good enough for now, haven’t had much more than minor nuisances.
also, I know pacman -Syu. That’s my second-most-used command (after yt-dlp)

Most of these aren’t generative AI, tho?

How do we make the AI firms bankrupt faster?
Oh yeah, I added a disclaimer.

The ELIZA effect claims another victim.

No, no.
It’s because Robocop is a dead cop.
you need to run pacman -S sense-of-humor
Eh. I haven’t had issues for a few months and I back up my files on a weekly basis and -Syu once or twice a month. Worst case scenario, I’ll just reinstall and restore from backup.
Also, I mainly use Discover for high level stuff like browsers and IDEs.
Just aliased it to “Computer,” so it feels more like Star Trek
will probably continue typing sudo tho
Probably not as bad as they would to an AI babysitter.
