Yeah. It’s definitely “the liberals” responsible for poor math skills.

And I only learned about him in the first place because of Watchmen.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is an underrated/forgotten video game that you think deserved a second chance?
1·2 years agoIf you like Privateer, check out Double Damage Games “Rebel Galaxy: Outlaw”. Excellent game with a lot of sadly lost potential due to the dev being run out of game development by hostile and entitled “gamers”.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is an underrated/forgotten video game that you think deserved a second chance?
2·2 years agoDarkstar One. And it is just now getting rereleased, so it doesn’t count.
So instead, I’ll pick The Legend of Dragoon on PSX. Such a fun RPG that really needs revisited.
Now the GOP is really hating Mexico.
Persona. I’ve had conversations with friends after playing P4 or P5 for awhile where I wondered what response would max out my confidant points with them.

Technology@beehaw.org•Senate passes TikTok ban bill, sending it to Biden, who has already committed to signing it
8·3 years agoThen why is the bill about DIVESTMENT of Tiktok from Chinese ownership? The operation headquarters are in Los Angeles and Singapore. I’m beginning to think you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Technology@beehaw.org•Senate passes TikTok ban bill, sending it to Biden, who has already committed to signing it
12·3 years ago60% of ByteDance is owned by global investors, most of which are based in the US. 20% is owned by the original co-founders, none of whom have any ties to the CCP, and the remaining 20% is owned by employees, almost all of which are in California. The overwhelming majority of the company is already owned by Americans. This entire thing is all about trying to silence a source of information that challenges and refutes government interests, particularly where Palestine is concerned.

8·3 years agoYou do know that the overwhelming majority of investment and control in TikTok is already based in the US, and the only Chinese national involved with the app was the creator who already cashed out and retired a long time ago?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Of all movies that you gotta watch more than once to really understand, what is your favorite and why?
1·3 years agoI would, but I’m not even supposed to be here today.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People born on Leap Day, do you celebrate your birthday on February 28th, February 29th, or March 1st?
491·3 years agoMy friend in grammar school had a Leap Day birthday and his parents’ solution was that his birthday was celebrated “the day after February 28th”.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•They say in an infinite multiverse versions of you exist. Yet there's an infinity of fractional numbers between 1 and 2 with no whole number 3 between, so infinity can exist without every possibility.
11·3 years agoThe ultimate conceit is that infinities are a wonderfully engaging concept, but truly comprehending them as a tangible thing is inherently futile. We want to make these comparisons. They do, in some ways, hold some kind of meaningful as a concept, because we like one thing to be bigger or better than the other. But, at the scale of infinity, these comparisons are arbitrary and largely meaningless in any practical way.

312·3 years agoThe mind-bending thing about it is thus: there are an infinite multitude of “you” throughout the multiverse expressing every “you” that could, or even could not, be. However, there are infinitely more realities with no “you” at all. The set of infinities containing an expression of “you” is necessarily smaller than the set of infinities that do not contain an expression of “you” simply owing to the very narrow nature of eventualities required to express “you” into existence. In point of fact, that set if infinitesimal labeled “you” is infinitesimal in comparison to the set labeled “not you”, and yet still uncountable in its infinity.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which video game did you bounce off of at first, but then tried again later for it to become one of your favorites of all time?
2·3 years agoIt’s even more crazy to consider the entire filesize for Vagrant Story is around 100mb. It’s incredibly economical for what it achieves.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which video game did you bounce off of at first, but then tried again later for it to become one of your favorites of all time?
3·3 years agoKnights Field series. I never could get into them back in the day, but I’ve been on a retro kick with my Anbernic and got sucked into them. Ended up putting 20 hours so far into the English translation of the first Japanese KF.
Also, Vagrant Story. Pretty much same scenario where I rented it back in the day and bounced off the combat for not making any sense to me. Tried it recently and really dig it. The combat system is really quite clever once you understand it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which video game did you bounce off of at first, but then tried again later for it to become one of your favorites of all time?
5·3 years agoI feel that. It is still the game I have logged the most time with, which considering I’ve got about 1,300 hours in Elite Dangerous is kinda scary. Between the original Xbox, PC, and Xbox One BC, I’ve got about 1,800 hours in it. Thoroughly enjoyed breaking every aspect of Morrowind.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What was the worst bastardization of a classic book into a movie?
2·3 years agoIn defense of The Dark Tower… it isn’t an adaptation of the books. It’s a sequel. It continues the story in a way in which Roland finally breaks the loop.

There was this audio book thing we used to have when I was in kindergarten. It was about farm animals, and each animal had its own sound effects. Pigs had the sound effect of a man saying the phrase “sloppity sloppity sloppity slop, sloppity sloppity sloppity slop”.
This is now my mantra whenever I see AI slop.
Maybe we should start chanting it en masse at these tech conventions any time AI is being discussed as anything more than a massive waste of resources.
