What headset? Most headsets work fine now. I had some issues with an old WMR headset (HP Reverb G2), but even Windows doesn’t support WMR anymore so it’s basically dead. Went with a Quest 3 eventually and it works great with WiVRn (ALVR works as well, but it’s a bit more clunky).
For FHD Blu-Rays yes (though IIRC you need to download a file with the list of AACS keys for decryption). For UHD BluRays, you need to get a drive that people have made a custom firmware for and flash the firmware first. This is because UHD drives also have hardware level encryption protection that prevents you from being able to read the discs directly (assuming the firmware is working as intended, hence the need to flash a custom firmware). Realistically, just find a remux torrent. It’s much easier.

Technology@lemmy.world•Raspberry Pi 500 and Raspberry Pi Monitor are available nowEnglish
5·1 year agoI have a Pi400 that I used as a 4K UHD Kodi client. It worked great. The only thing it lacked was Doing Vision and HDR10+ support. Normal HDR10 was fine.
Now I just use the Jellyfin app for my TV (LG), which also support DV.
The Williams Formula 1 team managed everything in Exce until this year. The new team principal was stunned at how outdated their systems were and moved everything to more modern systems. The transition caused some major problems with inventory near the beginning of the season though. They didn’t have enough replacement parts for a single crash. Hopefully they can make better progress now with the newer systems.
Sched-Ext finally in mainline!

Technology@lemmy.world•Linus Torvalds affirms expulsion of Russian maintainersEnglish
7·1 year agoRussians aren’t restricted from getting their changes submitted, they just can’t be maintainers. This means that they need another maintainer to approve their changes, just like if you or me were to submit a change. A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding what actually happened.

21·1 year agoReminder that gallons in the US are different than the UK. 51 UK MPG ≈ 42.5 US MPG.
Also increases baseline allowance, which will be super useful since my “portable” AC has been eating so much power this month.
The San Francisco Bay Area is having the hottest and longest heat wave of the year right now. I hate it. October shouldn’t be so hot. 90% of residences in SF don’t even have AC because it was almost never necessary 20 years ago.

It does seem that she usually has 1 parent who is Romani since 1979 though.
Romani people are Indo-Aryan, more closely related to modern day Indian people than Europeans. They typically have darker skin than Europeans as well. It’s not really an American concept either; I’ve generally seen a lot more anti-Romani sentiment in Europe than the US.
I say “zeesh”. Like “sheesh” with a z.

Technology@lemmy.world•World’s first grid-scale, semi-solid-state energy storage project goes online - Energy StorageEnglish
12·1 year agoWhy though? The main benefit of solid state is the energy density, which is not at all important for a stationary, grid-connected system. It’s also super expensive. Why not just stick with sodium-ion batteries for the grid which are way cheaper per kWh?

What about a trinary system? Like, dislike, and meh?
