The rules haven’t changed (much), but enforcement has been stepped up with better scanners that catch a lot of minor violations that used to be missed. I wouldn’t count on things that went through before necessarily going through now.
Sounds to me like a rationalization for what I suggested. I’m not saying they don’t believe it but, in my experience, the main predictor of what people believe is what they want to believe. People decide how they want to live, then construct a belief system to justify it.

The existence of cameras and the linking of those cameras to a central monitoring system are two very different things. Ring cameras are part of that system. Most business and even traffic cameras are not.
As I said, I’m pretty confident I can get anywhere in my small city without being identified, except through tracking of my path that would only be possible because of ring cameras.
I choose to carry my phone in my pocket, and I can choose not to carry it. I can even choose to have someone else carry it north while I go south.
I can go anywhere in my city on foot or a bike and be entirely untracked by anything, except those damn doorbell cameras. At most I might be picked up by a traffic camera or two, but I can do any number of things to not be recognized, but not if they can follow my movements back to my house. Those cameras fill the last gaps of untracked freedom of movement.
You don’t get it. It’s not about just one camera. They have the whole network and can run facial recognition and licence plate readers (that go well beyond just reading plates) across all of it. They don’t just know that you left your house, they can track everywhere you go. Some courts have made that illegal for cops to do, so they just outsourced it.
Your camera is just a small piece, but it’s a piece you control. Nobody should be throwing that shit up to the cloud. It’s incredibly damaging to any kind of civil resistance movement. Stalin could only have dreamed of the kind of mass surveillance that Americans are just freely providing to our oligarchy. It’s fucking dumb.
That ring camera is still absolutely a privacy threat, if not to you, than to your neighbors. Ring is partnering with flock on mass surveillance with facial recognition. That camera belongs to ICE just as much as it belongs to you, if not more since they can have AI “watch” it 24x7.

Yes, it is, and the current government is the worst possible instantiation of that. An Israel that wasn’t continuing to colonize new Palestinian land and wasn’t committing a Palestinian genocide would still be a Jewish supremacist ethno-state. Economically, slavery wasn’t as efficient or “necessary” as the South claimed. I disagree. There were certainly material benefits but, ultimately, I don’t think anyone is better off because of slavery. America still is unable to reconcile with it’s own history, and that has had some pretty obvious consequences for everyone.

There is still a significant pro Ukrainian resistance operating in both Crimea and Donbas. Russian has had to resort to brutal tactics to suppress them, but has still not been entirely successful. Many of the resisters retreated to fight with the rest of Ukraine, and they are certainly giving Russia a fight. In any case, it’s still imperialism.

China is the biggest debt holder nation in the world. Zambia just had to default on loans for infrastructure that largely served Chinese needs, and Kenya and Ethiopia are not far behind. Meanwhile, the DRC is falling into debt paying for infrastructure to ship Copper and Cobalt to Chinese. China has not been as abusive as the west was, but they aren’t that much better either. It’s still the same tactics.

China isn’t imperialist either, it’s a socialist country wituout any financial domination of the state or economy.
China is a kinder imperialist, but they are using largely the same playbook that the west used in Africa, including debt-trap diplomacy, undermining local sovereignty and regulation, and undermining labor movements.
They also have a mix of socialism and capitalism, sometimes getting the best of both, and sometimes the worst. They definitely dominate the state economy through control of banking and the use of capital controls to direct funding to national priorities. The current real estate crisis and “ghost cities” are a pretty obvious example.
I do know our history, and in October 1962 the odds of nuclear war were less than the odds of a climate apocalypse today, because they weren’t 100%.
Yet? No. But he is on course. The estimated number of deaths from his illegal USAID cuts is actually 14 million by 2030. That’s one policy. I expect that number will be dwarfed by the long term impacts of his environmental policy. Then we have the pending excitement in Iran to worry about.
