Technology@lemmy.world•After announcing increased prices, Spotify to Pay Songwriters About $150 Million Less Next YearEnglish
7·2 years agoI’m in a similar boat, but I never feel fully satisfied to release a song (probably cuz I am a hobbyist and I suck lol).
But regardless, I think there is an element of selling your soul to Hollywood to really make it big, and I just don’t have that kind of commitment at this point in my life. I like relaxing and anonymity.

4·2 years agoParts are expensive and profit margins are thin. What’s stopping us from buying parts on eBay and reselling those phones for profit? You pretty much end up with the cost of the phone to repair the phone.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Audiophiles of Fedi, how do you like to listen to your music?
2·2 years agoGeneral listening: Spotify + car speakers w/ EQ
Immersive listening: FLACs + HD 560S w/ EQ + Scarlett 2i2 + foobar2k
Just do it. I was hesitant as well but now there’s no going back. It’s actually like 5x faster.

2·2 years agoNo, because those don’t have social media functions built in. Snapchat has those TikTok slideshows and ads among posting pictures of yourself too. It’s more of an all in one that many use

52·2 years agoIt’s the age old argument of “if there is no God, how do we teach what is right or wrong?”
Yes we can teach morals and ethics without a creator in place. As Penn from Penn and Teller would put it. “I don’t need the fear of eternal damnation to tell me that I shouldn’t murder. I shouldn’t murder because it’s wrong”.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Microsoft has not stopped forcing Edge on Windows 11 users.
267·2 years agoAs much as I love Linux, I can’t really suggest it to casual users because I would end up being tech support for every issue. I’d suggest it to slightly more advanced users who know the basics of troubleshooting.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is your "inexpensive" hobby that turned out to be expensive/ you gradually invested lots of money into?
1·2 years agoKuru Togas for sure for their rotating lead engine. The Advanced Upgrade specifically is my daily driver. The Pentel GraphGear 1000 is also a very comfortably hefty pencil. Otherwise the Pentel Orenz Nero and it’s auto dispensing lead mechanism is also really cool. Rotring 600 and Staedtler 925-35 are also popular pencils that I’ve tried and like, but I don’t own.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[RANT] I pay $70/mo for this privilegeEnglish
21·2 years agoIt’s easier to do in more rural or remote areas but cities and suburbs make it a bit harder. US prices are also fucked. I’m currently paying $62/month for 100 down and 10 up and that’s the cheapest option around us.
Skill issue.
Fun fact about spice tolerance. Many people think tolerance = resistance but that’s not the case. After a certain point, people who love spicy foods report the same levels of spiciness compared to those who don’t regularly eat it, it’s just that they are used to it and even like it. So something that is a 10/10 spicy is the same level of spicy for everyone, it’s just some masochists prefer it to be that way.
So when people say things like “oh that wasn’t that spicy” it still usually is spicy. Their personality just prefers it that way so it doesn’t bother them as much.

Gotta love the Japanese culture of holding onto tradition until you can’t anymore.
Gotta remember that Japan was still mostly feudal up until the World Wars. Pretty recent in human history.
