Yes they did, in May 2024, Netanyahu immediately rejected it and the Biden administration refused to apply any meaningful pressure, which is why there was no deal until Steven Witkoff got involved.

Yes it’s very unfortunate, but we got almost a two month ceasefire which we wouldn’t have gotten with the Biden administration…

22·9 months agoAssuming your numbers are correct, after one year the interest is $70. I doubt you’d get anyone out to conduct the inspection at that price, let alone two because you need one at move in and one at move out; and let’s not even get started about potential the additional work should there be a dispute by the tenant or the landlord.

22·9 months agoYou mean they keep a portion of the deposit to determine who receives the payout? If you meant they only keep a portion of the revenues produced by the investment, which obviously must be one of the safest ones available and thus will have low return on investment, I’m afraid that would not be economically viable for the escrow company.

2·9 months agoIf you’re going to ask the government to step in, I would suggest to make building more housing easier.
If it falls through again in a week or two, I have more faith in the Trump administration to potentially bring peace again than in the Biden administration. Biden was unwilling to use any serious leverage in order to get the Israeli government to stop the genocide.
I don’t like Trump. I merely acknowledge he has been far more successful in stopping the genocide compared to Biden. I do not agree with the Trump administration illegally detaining people.

42·9 months agoIt’s important to prevent conflict of interests but asking the city to step in in every single rental agreement is not necessarily an effective solution. Someone else here suggested having the cost split between the tenant and the landlord, which has the merit of addressing the potential conflict of interest.

What happened to being civil and nice?
Steve Witkoff, Trump’s envoy, is the one who brokered the ceasefire deal. He imposed a meeting to Netanyahu in the middle of Shabbat and told him the peace deal was going to happen, no way around it. Biden had over a year to do this and refused to apply meaningful pressure on Israel.
Why do you feel the need to insult me? Rule #1 of this community is “Be civil and nice.”
Trump brokered a peace deal between Palestinians and Israeli which stopped, or at the very least paused, the genocide for almost two months now. Are you suggesting the situation was better under Biden?
He is also currently working towards a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
This dude is protesting because despite the stop of the genocide, the occupation of Palestine by Israel continues.

That’s not true.
