What do you do when the device isn’t on the network for some reason (e.g. stuck during boot)?

3·4 months agoI have one of the 3rd reality ones and it’s been good, only had it get stuck one time in a year and I think it was just a low battery thing. It indeed does use a AAA battery, but the sensor is expensive for what it is unfortunately.
What an enormous waste of resources this whole thing is
I think he’s leaning into the drama for attention, but he’s also just bad

homeassistant@lemmy.world•Devices continuously dropping off my ZigBee networkEnglish
2·6 months agoI had a couple of Aqara sensors awhile ago (vibration sensor and door sensors) and they always fell off the network randomly and required re pairing. Aqara don’t seem to properly follow the zigbee standard, so unless you’re using their gateway there’s a good chance it will just stop working - or at least that’s been my experience. I replaced them with different brands and haven’t had a problem since.
I wasn’t clear from your post if most of the devices are Aqara or not but if they’re all that brand then I would guess this is your problem.

Out of necessity most likely, sometimes you either have no alternatives for proprietary software on Linux, or it’s extremely cumbersome to get and maintain such software on Linux.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I'm increasingly unhappy with the limits on AI text generation and I have heard that it's not that hard to do it on a laptop oneself. What is the best path forward?
10·2 years agoLM Studio is one of the most user friendly ways to play around with LLMs imo. You can run some of the smaller models without too much memory (it will be slow without a decent GPU though).

I interact with these (ER605 and some others) pretty regularly for work. I’m pretty unimpressed considering how tp-link market them, like you point out, for “business”.
We don’t do any ipv6 stuff for clients so no direct experience with that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they just don’t have proper ipv6 support. They’re so underpowered for what tp-link charge for them and they don’t even have proper firewalls (imo).
