Surely Chile isn’t the worst one either.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Overpopulation will only become an issue due to the artificial scarcity and greed of capitalism rather than the actual population
1·4 months agoFair points. As I said, I haven’t listened to it since it released, so I can’t remember exactly how it went. But there is a point that using “overpopulation” to deflect the conversation from other more important topics when it comes to climate change mitigation is an issue. The same thing a lot of people do with nuclear energy. That while there is truth to it, the intentions behind bringing it up is malicious. Not that that is the case in this thread at all.

1·4 months agoIt’s been a long time since I’ve listened to this episode of the Climate Town podcast, but as far as I remember they give a very good overview of why “we’re too many people for the planet” is climate misinformation.
Well that’s one interpretation. Another is that even if you are bullied as a child for being odd, sticking out, when you grow older you might figure out that you are perfect just the way you are, and you will find other people like you who appreciate you for who you are. H. C. Andersen was an odd kid, potentially gay as well, but ended up moving to the city and becoming a famous author — so the story reflects his own life. So there is a very positive message in this story that I think is important to share.

I can only recommend looking up Killian Experience on YouTube.
