Cover letters are one of the few things I’ve found AI is decent at producing. I give it my resume, the job description, and tell it to write of a cover letter based on those. The employer will most likely skim it or not read it at all, so it doesn’t need to be super detailed. Of course, make sure to double-check it for hallucinations.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Progress towards universal Copy/Paste shortcuts on Linux
5312·9 months agoControl+C is used to kill a process in the terminal and that shouldn’t be overwritten. If it is, you’d have to create a totally separate key binding to kill a process. Seems unnecessarily complex when Control+Shift+C works just fine.

Technology@lemmy.world•Research suggest LLM chatbots may be effective against conspiracy theoriesEnglish
111·1 year agoHere’s a link to the chatbot. It’s pretty good at explaining things and has a lot of patience for the hopeless drivel conspiracy theories contain. I like how it doesn’t just refute them with specific evidence, but tears apart the very logic of the conspiracy theories.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People of lemmy, what was your “oh crap” moment?
231·1 year agoI was once driving on some back roads I was unfamiliar with. I turned a corner and didn’t realize there was a stop sign until too late and went right through the intersection. As I went through it, I turned my head to the left and noticed that a car was heading right for me. It missed me by inches.

I think you’re giving companies too much credit. Freakonomics did a series called “Does Advertising Actually Work?” and the tl;dr was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
