GIT tracks changes, which doesn’t strike me as something that often happens with messaging. Unless you just always replace your last message with the new one, I guess, then sure!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Technically everybody goes to sleep after midnight
2·3 months agoEveryone goes to sleep after 2pm
Back when rooting was all the rage I tinkered with hosting various services. It just didn’t make much sense for such an underpowered device, amongst other reasons (battery swelling).
I did use an old phone to “host” a game automation. One of those “idle clicker” / RPG games since I’m so lazy. After about 2 months the battery swelled and popped the back cover off. That was the end to that idea…

Opensource@programming.dev•Send files between two devices using nothing but a screen and a camera
4·3 months agoWhat a neat concept. I love to see innovation like this. Sure, it is markably worse throughput than basically anything else, but it’s something completely new.
The only situation I can see this being useful in is if wireless RF is being monitored, or a mass gathering where uni/multi-cast is simply infeasible.
As it is now, at least. Would love to see it developed further. I have serious concerns at how well it’d function in low light.

Texas@lemmy.world•Houston mothers challenge Ten Commandments posters under Texas’ new parental rights amendment
17·3 months agoPressures students to embrace religious principles and values they may not align with.
Wait, are the mothers FOR or against religious freedom? Can’t have it both ways. If you truly support this you can’t be upset if your children choose to follow another religion. You know, freely. Of their own free will.
Maybe she should be pushing for the schools to hang other religious signs up in tandem instead of harping on one particular religion.

I still use 3.5mm auxiliary cables on a daily basis. Not phased out quite yet.
