Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There exist people who will go through the effort of leaving their home, traveling to a movie theatre, paying for a ticket, and sitting for 2-3 hours for a movie they claim "nobody wants to see"

93·2 months agoYeah, that’s me. Over the last 10 years, I’ve watched 51 movies in theaters. Only a few of them were movies I actually wanted to see.
I’m trying to stop doing this, but it’s hard because my friend group has terrible taste in movies, and they get upset if I don’t come along.
This Thursday we’re going to see Avatar 3, and I have no interest in it. It’s also a very long movie and starts late at night. The next day I need to wake up early for a pretty important workday. I need to start standing up for myself more…
I have too many scripts for mpv making my life easier to ever consider switching back to VLC. Also, shaders and customizations!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Did anyone else not even know who Charlie Kirk was!?
5·5 months agoI knew of him, because of my right wing friend.
I honestly don’t know. It was a relatively clean account. Then my friend, who is a redditor by heart, got banned. It looks like he was banned just because he was associated with me. And now, if we make new accounts, they get instantly deleted. I don’t care because I moved to Lemmy a “long” time ago. But my friend is heartbroken.
Came because of the reddit API. Stayed, because I couldn’t stand reddit users anymore.
And half of the settings moved from old control panel to a new crappy UI settings. At least commit and move all of them.
I never find what I am looking for in there, without opening and closing a bunch of windows. I swear they regularly move location of some settings. Search function is pretty bad too.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the legal situation of piracy in Slovenia?
105·1 year agoIt’s impossible to get into trouble, unless you sell pirated content.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What file formats, technologies, techniques do you think would benefit most people by being more common? Or that people would benefit by being more aware of?
17·2 years agoGrapheneOS is still just for pixel phones right?
First time I tried switching to linux I went with mint and I had a lot of problems, everything I hated about windows seems to be even worse there. I switched back to windows for a year but last month I gave linux another shot with Manjaro. And I managed to fully switch to linux without any big problems so far. There is a lot to like about it, especially for a linux begginer like myself.
I am not really qualified to recommend it, but my experience as a noob has been great (gaming with linux native games and windows games, watching movies, customizing things, modding games…)

27·2 years agoYeah, but I’m sure a lot of people just bought youtube premium. I know my friend did…stupid idiot.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can we stop talking about that other site that had a migration here?English
3·3 years agoI don’t mind those posts. But I am on the other hand slowly getting bothered by your kind of posts. They seem to be posted more often than any other reddit related news/shittalking.

Fun hobby you have spreading negativity on lemmy.
