I’m positive that this comment will help me find more users who stray from your echo chamber. Keep ‘em coming.
I wish I didn’t have to individually block lemmygrad accounts- it’s my only issue with kbin.social. Still love you, Ernest.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•when will be your last time to vote for the "lesser of two evils"?
3·2 years agoAs someone whose local election ousted a literal fascist, never forget local elections, folks.
Fire extinguishers are worthless to most. Now hear me out. Most fire extinguishers go bad after ~a year of immobility and tend to be kept for several years after. When a fire breaks out, every second matters and fetching a worthless fire extinguisher costs time that no one has.
If you buy someone a fire extinguisher, you have to take on a degree of stewardship and explain the issue. You become fire extinguisher tech support. Set a calendar for them to periodically turn their fire extinguisher or it’s a paperweight. My father burned down the kitchen in an oil fire but luckily had a hand-me-down fire extinguisher to frustratedly shake for a minute. If you give, expect to educate.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which heightened/different senses of other animals would you most like to experience (while still being human)?
91·2 years agoI hadn’t even considered the degree of finesse one could develop until you mentioned a router. Feeling a text vs a call, diagnosing an issue with an electric motor by proximity, instantly noticing loose wiring, feeling when malware begins spinning up processes, etc…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can porn be used in a healthy way? or should it be avoided completely?
41·2 years agoPorn can be addictive and can promote toxic relationship values. If you don’t understand what you’re consuming or are predisposed to certain addictions, it can be debilitating. Sex ed and proper communication mitigate or completely prevent negative outcomes. Which is to say, talk to your partners and teachers while you can, folks.
Every admin of every instance, with a little finagling, can see them. At least that was the case a few months ago.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•US judge rules: if you can't prove damages, car-makers can continue to intercept and record customers' mobile phone activity.
3·2 years agoI never said it did, just a relevant fun fact.

4·2 years agoNot just police, any armed investigatory unit or state sponsored militia. The idea of a “police” force was pretty vague at the time, so the umbrella covers much more than it initially intended to.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Imagine if the movie "Her" (2013) was real and people could fall in love with an AI, would you be weirded out by someone if they did that and especially if it was someone you knew?
4·2 years agoDating sims already exist. I imagine there’s massive overlap between people’s views on dating sims and virtual SOs. Generally negative sentiment.
Going a step further and physically removing or disabling the Wi-Fi radio is necessary in some. My tv refused to cease attempting to connect to every guest network nearby, even with Wi-Fi off. Thanks, but I’m fine without ads on my home screen, friend.

The funny thing about this situation is that it takes 20 minutes just to get past the context on why an oversimplification like “religious conflict” doesn’t work. It is, but… it’s not, and they’re not, but they are. Make sense yet? No? Good.

Technology@beehaw.org•Your Sweaters Are Garbage: The quality of knitwear has cratered. Even expensive sweaters have lost their hefty, lush glory.
1·2 years agoIt’s more the requesting bit. I’d be happy to buy what would probably be a $150 shirt or sweatshirt but the act of requesting it feels odd. If I were already in contact with a few seniors with a knitting/sewing hobby then it would be perfectly kosher, but soliciting clothing feels exploitative, unless it’s handled carefully.

5·2 years agoI honestly can’t figure out how I feel about the idea of requesting sewing/knitting from retired people. That said, I’d love anything I’d get from them. Handmade clothes are worth cherishing.

Cokeclothing” and I was wondering whether anyone had any recommendations on that front.
