I agree with the sentiment but we’re dealing with a chicken and egg problem. If no TVs have DisplayPort, who would buy a console that can’t be used with their TV?

What’s the relationship between sunspots and geomagnetic storms that can affect the earth? Is this just panic bait or is there actually something potential here?

The circlejerk of tech bros and busidiots who haven’t built a damn thing in their lives.

MBAs are mortal enemies of software engineers. Couple that with what one former CEO of mine said: “engineers have very well tuned bullshit detectors” and you arrive at the problem…
Similar story to a lot of others here
Around a year ago I got fed up with Microsoft forcefully pushing unwanted and privacy-invading “features” on their users. It scared me to continue using it. I wanted more control and more protection for my privacy. So I decided to install Mint.
I’ve dabbled with Linux in the past and use it extensively in my job, but hadn’t switched significantly to it in the past. One of the biggest blockers being games. I bought a Steam Deck a couple of years ago so I was needing increasingly confident that Linux would work for gaming to some extent. It ended up working very smoothly and I haven’t looked back.
I still have my dual boot, partially because I haven’t bothered to remove windows fully. At this point there’s very little reason for me to not into windows. I’ve only encountered one game I’ve wanted to play that didn’t work in Linux and that was an old game with mods. I might be able to get it working if I really troubleshooted it, but it’s not that important.

It seems to vary. I had few issues with my 2080Ti but my friend had nothing but issues with his 3070. He switched to an AMD card and it worked without issue. Nvidia doesn’t put nearly as much emphasis on their Linux support as AMD does, but that doesn’t mean that Nvidia cards aren’t usable.
I switched full time to Linux last year and primarily use my computer for gaming. It’s been great. I play games through steam so YMMV with other systems. I haven’t had any issues playing a variety of games such as Factorio (built for Linux), GTFO, Horizon: Forbidden West, PEAK, Ready or Not, Plate Up… It’s been rare for me to have an issue. I remember an issue trying to play Plate Up via steam remote play.

My computer graphics/computer vision professor in college (two classes, same professor). He treated us as people, explained the logic behind his teaching style (and grading), was extremely knowledgeable and approachable. A lot of professors end up having a sort of air or mystique around them that can make them harder to approach 1-on-1. Usually it’s no fault of their own, they’re just in a position of power and authority over the students.
This professor really tried to bring his students in by making us feel like we belonged. He actually described his class as the same class they teach at MIT. The only difference was the students and their drive.
In the computer vision class, there were only about 8 of us and we all did terribly in one of his exams. The next class he asked us directly and openly what he did wrong and how to make things better going forward (tl;dr: more examples). I really respect teachers who admit their mistakes/failures and then try to correct them.

What category would he be eligible for?

I graduated in 6 years with a bachelor’s. It took my mom 20 years to get her bachelor’s (not continuously). You’re fine.

US police (including border agents) are stealing things from citizens. It doesn’t matter if you have bank statements or receipts if you are dealing with someone who will just steal your shit and claim legal immunity.

We have both MySQL and PostgreSQL in our production environment. Postgres is way nicer as a user of the DB. I created a document months ago outlining a dozen different things that Postgres does that MySQL either doesn’t do or does worse. I can’t speak to managing the DB as I don’t have experience with that.

Incorrect. There are a lot of companies that make silencers.

I have been running Linux full time on my gaming PC for a number of months now. I have found only a few instances where a game hasn’t worked. I know that certain games won’t work because of their invasive or Windows specific DRM, but for me personally I don’t want to play those games anyway. Some examples of games I can play without issue: Horizon: Forbidden West, Brotato, Plate Up, GTFO, Dome Keeper, Noita, Enlisted, Power Wash Simulator, Risk of Rain 2 …

Colorado enshrined the right to abortion and removed anti-gay marriage language from their constitution.

I legit thought that after dropping off my ballot yesterday. I checked online in the evening to see if they showed my ballot as received but it didn’t show it yet. Thankfully I did get an update a few hours ago that they did receive it

Probably not super unique but a glass breaker/seatbelt cutter. If I’m in an accident or I come upon one, I want that ability with me.
If I’m a TV manufacturer, I have less incentive to have both connector types because it increases cost and complexity while only appealing to a very small subset of users. It will take leadership at those companies to take a bit of a leap of faith that the effort is valuable as a long term plan because it will take other manufacturers to make the ecosystem. Couple that with the fact that leadership at companies tend to not be enthusiasts or technically inclined and it makes it difficult, but not impossible. I really hope we can move electronics towards DisplayPort just so it’s an open standard instead of the HDMI for-profit model.
