No worries if the answer here is “please go Google it”, but I’m curious as to what the end user has to edit?
Do they have to edit your domain into a connections file or some such, or is it more involved? I’d expect a chocolatey package or some form of installer could improve that hugely…

World News@lemmy.ml•Trump threatens to sue the BBC for up to $5 billion
2·3 months agoSo, to go back to the question above, would he be suing the American branch of the BBC which is the US-operating segment (and I suspect doesn’t have billions of dollars) or trying to sue the BBC which doesn’t operate in America (leaving that to the US branch)?
Or would be be suing, for instance, whatever broadcast service performed the BBC broadcast in the States? (It doesn’t sound like this)

1·3 months agoI’m sure they haven’t tested this out, at all. 😅
In more seriousness, does it not just look like the same distance as on the steam deck (which I find comfortable to use), but mildly rotated?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Immich 1.132 Brings Smoother Syncing, Mobile UI Enhancements
1·9 months agoPretty much that - the NAS instance is running all the time, and there’s a setting in Immich for the network address for the ML container(s) that accepts a comma (or semi colon) separated list, which is tried in order.
The docs mention that you can balance requests, but you’d have to use an external method for that at the moment.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Immich 1.132 Brings Smoother Syncing, Mobile UI Enhancements
3·9 months agoIf it helps, I have an ml container on my more powerful machine and have my Immich insurance pointing at that, then the local NAS container in order. If it’s on, it powers through (so I turn it on if I’m about to dump a batch of photos) and if it’s not it churns slowly through (e.g. if my phone uploads one or two).
It’s super easy to do! Would recommend.

Technology@lemmy.world•LG TVs’ integrated ads get more personal with tech that analyzes viewer emotionsEnglish
20·10 months agoFor what it’s worth, I subscribe to the “use your TV as a screen, plug another device in to deal with content” method. It’s not connected to the network.
So, whatever my TV wants to do, I’m not using it’s janky apps that might get slow over time or try to advertise to me - my Nvidia shield (which is on the ropes/way out due to some updates it pushed) CEC wakes the TV and plays content without having any particular insight into my emotional state. But I can replace that relatively easily/cheaply until my screen literally stops working, rather than if some new service isn’t supported on it or an old one is deprecated.
I’m being tempted to replace the shield with a NUC or other device due to the updates I mentioned above - but I can probably replace the launcher more easily.

Technology@lemmy.world•You should swap your work or gaming monitor for a pair of AR glasses, and I'm not jokingEnglish
7·11 months agoI tried a pair of the Xreal Ones recently. They were pretty decent, though I was a little disappointed by the limited FOV (relative to real life screens, as I gather they’re pretty good for this style of display) the screen pinning was very good, and I really liked the “ultrawide” support (other than the aforementioned fov).
I’m thinking about buying a pair before I have a bunch of long flights later in the year.

How do you not read this as blame? Or, is this not the same as “they had it coming, wouldn’t have happened if they’d been dressed in armour or hadn’t gone down that street alone” which is often known as victim blaming.
Oh, there’s a wiki article on that. It has a section on the thing you’re arguing about, with cars and pedestrians Neat. Maybe this is why people are talking about it.

6·1 year agoI’ll be honest, I’m very confused about what you mean when you say that Google Wallet isn’t a thing. I pay with my Android phone everywhere, so ubiquitously that I’ve frequently left the house with just my phone and keys.
Do you mean America, where contactless payment is far less frequently accepted, or the concept of clicking on a “Pay with Google Wallet” style prompt on a website?
