Ah you say that, but I lived through the internet bubble. Jeez it was gruesome and then 9/11 hit the next year. Savage times.
Unless it’s considered a national security issue, which it might be, they’re getting fucked without the lube.

I deeply, genuinely, hope that the AI bubble bursts and they get fucked. It’s just so short sighted to not hold on to the safety rope.

Heads up the link in the post text is broken. It links to https://lemmy.world/post/!svgclub@blackneon.net for me but should be !svgclub@blackneon.net

The honorific would’ve probably been “my Chancellor” if it had been about his political authority
In his case it was very much meant as dictator.
There was debate after Hindenburg died and he took his powers with the plebiscite (as well as chancellor) about what his title should be. He didn’t want to harken back to Kaiser per the previous Reich so they went with Fuhrer.
It had been used within the party before that but came into common usage as his title at that time.

I’m in the thick of a 90 hour audiobook trilogy on the third Reich which is absolutely incredible (link) and Fuhrer is used liberally, partly to describe his ascent to absolute dictator as opposed to just Reich’s Chancellor.
I’m not defending shitopedia for one second! I’m just not sure it’s as outrageous as other shit that’s taking up our limited attention span at the moment is all.

Yeah I fully agree with this. I am thick in the middle of “Third Reich Trilogy” which gives an enormous amount of context to the word though.
If they changed it, it’s further evidence of scummy behaviour, but on its own it’s not a huge red flag for me with historical context.
Can’t recommend the books enough if you’re into that. The lad must have spent half his life in primary sources.

Thanks so much. I thought that would be the case but I wondered around things like “team leader” or “band leader” or whatever.
My guess was that it was forever tainted so I appreciate the context.

I mean the whole stupid Grokipedia thing is a shit show that will never take off, but Fuhrer is just “leader” in German. In it’s used context for Hitler it straight up means dictator and (iirc) only came into full on use after the plebiscite giving him full dictatorial power after Hindenburg’s death in 1934 (edit: He was already the Reich’s Chancellor and merged in Hindenburg’s powers with the vote to make himself full dictator / Fuhrer).
I’d welcome input from a German national - Is the word still used there?
100% but we shield it from our kids so they don’t worry because, to be honest, the meme is unfortunately accurate and their mental health (and joy, more to the point) is my top priority.
Edit: context dependent. I won’t avoid a cry in front of them at my mother’s funeral if I feel the need. My dad passed before their time.
All my clothes get the same treatment. Survival of the fittest, baby.
Thanks though. That is cool.

Thank you kindly. :)

Have you a source for this because if you do I’ll never cut a sandwich any other way for the rest of my life. I swear it.

Mmmm. You’re taking “company spokesperson” at face value there.
Let’s be real though, a meeting of highly paid, highly skilled people came up with that response then it was sanitised through three more filters before reaching our eyes.
I think this has lost some truth with the advent of very high definition oled phone screens in fairness. I’m a quality whore and having my phone very close to my face is a decent experience for most movies.
Obviously for stuff like Interstellar or Dune I’m going big.

Honestly this is magnificent. 🤡

OnePlus claim it’s not and a quick search does back that up. For the one specific to my phone they move a chunk of the work off the device (reducing heat on the phone) and onto the charger. It’ll still charge normally with any USB charger but it gets much hotter and is much slower compared to the OnePlus “warp” charge.

Yeah, a friend of mine made a similar argument and I hear it. Personally I’m always right beside a fast charger so it’s not an issue for me.
My phone has an option to auto-stop charging at 80% so I use that. I will occasionally charge it to 100% but like maybe once a month. TBH if it had an option to stop at 90% I’d probably use that as a middle ground (my steam deck does and I use 90% with it). I got 5 years out of my last phone and I’m 3 years into the current one and hoping to get many more out of it.
edit:
Personally I charge to about 95% and my phone batteries remain at 98-100% condition after 2 years of everyday use.
That’s a good reference point, cheers. Do you not find it a pain to monitor that though?
Oh yeah. Sure they’re already minted. Set for life.
