Does, “I couldn’t open the file” actually have anything to do with the instance of the program you ran on your computer the last week, or is it just the most likely written response to “did you even read the data” based on its training set?
It feels like perfect is not just the enemy of good enough, it’s slaughtering its family and salting its crops.
Obviously an LLM has no inner life and cannot have a mental breakdown. However, simulated emotional instability does not instil confidence in its performance stability.
It’s also probably not very good for our mental health to have to use tools that have developed to the point where they can take on the appearance of being deeply neurotic.
