I love this one but is the gif moving at 0.5 frames a second or is it just me

Technology@lemmy.world•Why using ChatGPT is not bad for the environmentEnglish
10·4 months agoI think you’ve got a bit of a strawman going here
Those who complain about the environmental impacts of AI almost invariably complain about flights and beef as well

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Over 30 we no longer want to go out - we want to be left alone, with a beer/wine, a blanket, tv, and tacos…
12·6 months agoYeah, I’ve realized that you can’t really put people as easily into the “introvert” and “extrovert” buckets, because it entirely depends on the day.
I can be a social butterfly one day, hyper productive the next, then want to watch reality TV and not leave the couch another. It just depends on the vibe of how I’m feeling

241·8 months agoDude chill out, why are you so angry? I merely pointed out that one of the videos does not support your claims and suggested an alternative hypothesis
Sorry for upsetting you with discussion hot damn

205·8 months agoThe top right video is a video absolutely dumpstering Tesla and calling it a worthless stock. Your recommendations will also highly depend on what video you were just watching, could it be that users who watch your video also happen to watch these other videos? Is that the platforms fault?

Why we out here combining these memes when both individually are enough
I’ve found it hogs a bit of resources so I shut mine off until Plex crossed a line

3·9 months agoI have a friend who is just so damn stubborn when it comes to mixing up their “comfortable” things if they aren’t the one to come up with the idea
Very frustrating

2·9 months agoAny suggestions for an XMPP client?
In an ideal world I want something that has Discord’s “drop-in” chats where you don’t need to “start a call” anywhere, you just join in. My biggest gripe with Element’s voice chat

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•The State of Steam Deck survey 2024: The results are in
2·1 year agoFights in Tight Places looks pretty fun. I’m a big deckbuilder fan, so always enjoy a new one. but that does make me wonder how Tainted Grail: Conquest runs because I really found that one to be a lot of fun. And also reminds me that before I buy a new deckbuilder I should probably play that Balatro game everyone talks about…

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•The State of Steam Deck survey 2024: The results are in
23·1 year agoWeird to discover I’m in the minority for trusting the verification check marks. Sure, I’ve played games without a check on Deck, but I usually use the check to determine how smooth and enjoyable the experience will be.
I’ve realized I just prefer mouse and keyboard so much that I don’t find the deck as enjoyable as others. I still love it, but the number of games I’m interested in playing on it are very limited. So the check is helpful to know how comfy the game will be.
I don’t want to waste any time setting a game up or fixing issues on Deck. It’s just not what I bought the device for.
That being said, any recommendations for smooth, out-of-the-box games on the Deck that didn’t appear in the top 10?

Technology@lemmy.world•Texas judge who bought Tesla stock won’t recuse himself from X v. Media MattersEnglish
2·1 year agoYeah the news of this non-recusal came too soon after the other recusal. Very confusing timeline if you didn’t know there were two cases

Technology@lemmy.world•Texas judge who bought Tesla stock won’t recuse himself from X v. Media MattersEnglish
2·1 year agoThe mathematical proof is that Elon owns several hundred million Tesla shares and his holding or selling of those shares will impact the share price of the judge’s shares. Up or down, the price will be impacted, that’s just how markets work. If he is forced to sell those shares to fund X, the judge will be impacted.
Also, you shouldn’t really need an exact proof for the judge’s recusal. There is a chance he is impacted by the result of the case in a significant monetary way, so why not pass the case to a judge who doesn’t have these connections. This isn’t the last judge in Texas (just one of the most partisan) so there is far greater upsides to recusal than downsides.
Why risk the optics of impropriety when you don’t have to?

Technology@lemmy.world•Texas judge who bought Tesla stock won’t recuse himself from X v. Media MattersEnglish
29·1 year agoFor anyone confused by this headline, there are two trials this judge is considering for X
[O’Conner] was overseeing two lawsuits filed by X and recused himself from only one of the cases.
This isn’t the new case about the “illegal boycott” O’Conner has recused himself from that trial (likely) because he also owns stock in Unilever, one of the defending companies
