Technology@lemmy.ml•World passes 30% renewable electricity milestone for the first time, decline of fossil inevitable
7·1 year agoThis article is about global electricity production, not all energy combined. This is an important nuance, as much energy consumption uses fossil fuels directly, namely cars, many (older) house or industrial processes. Only a small fraction of this is electricity, and in the grander scheme, the “renewable” part is only a fraction: https://ourworldindata.org/energy-production-consumption.
So, while this is a step in the good direction, it is only a very small one.
@BlackLaZoR@BlackLaZoR@kbin.run would you mind updating the title to reflect this?
Because the northern hemisphere is mostly land mass and the southern hemisphere is mostly ocean. Land heats faster and cools faster than ocean, thus the seasonal effects are more pronounced in the data.
Same with CO2 patterns which gives a similar yearly ‘breathing effect’

Linux@lemmy.ml•How to run macOS on Linux (without too much hassle supposedly)
4·2 years agoI used this one or a similar one a while back. Pure magic. It started downloading a ton of stuff, and half an hour later I was greated by a (slow) macOS, good enough to do some tests of my webapp on Safari.

3·2 years agoIt is the abbreviation of OpenStreetMap.org, a crowdsourced map of the world. You’ve 100% sure already used the data of the project, in the form of Organic Maps, OsmAnd, the maps on Facebook, instagram en Whatsapp or Pokemon Go.

Also, you answered the question backwards, but I don’t mind XD
Look for a local hackerspace, they might have the right connections. Most of them have regular (often weekly) ‘social nights’ where you can hang out.
Https://Mapcomplete.osm.be/hackerspaces has an (incomplete) listing
