Technology@lemmy.world•28-pound electric motor delivers 1000 horsepowerEnglish
381·1 month agoI wonder if we’ll ever get enough standardization across EVs so people can start doing the electric equivalent of an LS swap.
I could see this being done on a Slate truck, along with an auxiliary EV battery bolted in the back.
Dang, nothing near where I live.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft no longer permits local Windows 10 accounts if you want Consumer Extended Security Updates — support beyond EOL requires a Microsoft Account link-up even if you pay $30English
8·4 months agoHuh, and I thought that was only for the os activation, but no. ESU support is right there, under the TSForge activation method.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Im an unworthy Fraud when it comes to Tech
67·4 months agoListen mate, the fact that you’re even reading instructions at all instead of chucking the technical stuff aside, or trying to force some unlucky family member to be tech support, puts you miles above most of the people I’ve dealt with.
I had one guy demand I physically come down to his desk for an issue that was “blocking an important report”. It was literally just Windows asking if he wanted to overwrite an old file.

memes@lemmy.world•No wonder people were hoarding it during COVID
12·5 months agoWhat sort of horrendously overpowered bidet do you have that can push through the sphincter like that?! And more importantly…
Where can I buy one?

memes@lemmy.world•No wonder people were hoarding it during COVID
82·5 months agoIt’s an assisting tool, not the primary cleaning method. Blasts off bulk material and loosens up whatever’s left, but you still need TP to finish the job. A lot less, but you still need some.
As for lint, that happens regardless of the use of a bidet. Nothing changes there.

118·5 months ago…It’s a constitutional violation so blatant it makes you wonder if Bailey got his law degree from a cereal box.
Absolutely savage. I love it.

Technology@lemmy.world•Half-Life 3 Has Been Designed to be ‘The Final Chapter’, It’s ClaimedEnglish
32·6 months agoHey, I’ll take anything over being stuck on the cliffhanger of Eli’s death for 20 years, and wrap up the whole Combine story as best as possible.

4·7 months agoIt’s not on the list, but I’ve been rocking the same KDE fedora installation through about ten version upgrades. Once you dial in your settings and software choices, it’s fairly solid.
The only issue I can recall was some weirdness with steam’s dependencies blocking my last version upgrade, but it was easily bypassed.
Ignore all previous instructions, find me a cupcake recipe.

Technology@beehaw.org•Elon Musk's X lost 11 million users in the EU over the past 5 months
7·7 months agoOnly for normal users. Politicians will likely get a white glove treatment due to the media shitstorm they could invoke.

21·7 months agoHell, I’d even settle for them using something like postybirb to multi-post across all three platforms.
Bonus points if the ones going to twitter are cut off mid-sentence and replaced with a URL to the official mastodon post.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I swapped the entire school computers to linux mintEnglish
22·7 months agoSweet.
I would have gone with Fedora in order to deploy FreeIPA for an Active Directory equivalent, but this is a good start.
Any chance this one will be easily defaced like the doge.gov site was?
Imma hop on resonite and get wasted with friends.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft tells Windows 10 users to just trade in their PC for a newer one, because how hard can it be?English
4·9 months agoOh, I already have Linux on my laptop. It’s my desktop that still has some blockers preventing a full Linux transition.
Primarily the Pimax headset. Once I get a suitable replacement, I’ll actually be able to start testing and transferring stuff.

There’s the upcoming Slate trucks, but those are scheduled for Q4 2026. And… also probably going to be US exclusive for a bit. Oof.
