Technology@beehaw.org•Meta's upcoming AcitivityPub-enabled app Threads will only come with an "import from Mastodon" option. The new network won't federate on day one.English
4·3 years agoMe too and I don’t think it’ll be a threat to Lemmy but on Mastodon, there are a lot of old people who already use Meta platforms themselves.

15·3 years agoThey will very soon have the largest userbase of any instance. If your instance gets blocked by Meta, your users suddenly have a fraction of the reach because no Meta people can see your posts anymore. That would put a lot of pressure on admins I imagine.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?English
2·3 years agoYou can hold it in for a while and if you eat less food but with more energy per volume, you can eat less -> poop less and still get enough energy.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•For everyone new to Lemmy, how are you finding the experience?English
2·3 years agoI’m having a great time. Lemmy is a little bit harder than Reddit but I have been on Mastodon for some time now so I know how federation works. The only thing about Lemmy I don’t like is that it feels kinda buggy and unpolished as it is very early stage and the same posts often reappear. But I like the community and it actually seems to be working so that’s pretty cool!

Technology@beehaw.org•Discord is opening the monetization floodgates: get ready for microtransaction stores and paid 'exclusive memes'English
2·3 years agoYes, that’s my reason for still having it too. All my friends are on there. And getting them to change platform is almost as hard as getting a woman to like you.
I could be wrong but I think Paper.wf is only intended to write stuff on and you need to promote your blog via other socials. Then, people can follow your blog via things like Lemmy, Mastodon or other Fediverse platforms. Commenting would also be done via other fediverse platforms I imagine.
