That movement is for not buying anything from those companies for the next few days. It should be to not buy anything from them this holiday season or indefinitely. Support local businesses that keep money in your own community.

I need to make sure I have my old Affinity installers. I’m sure I won’t be able to activate in a few years because they decide to take down the authentication server.

12·1 month agoIt was forked off if Organic Maps because if a difference of philosophy. Organic Maps wanted to add more proprietary components to their app.
Control Panel still exists. It’s one of the several windows that you use to configure the computer. The settings app still hasn’t implemented everything from control panel, so you have to jump back into it occasionally.

1·3 months agoYou could use something like homebrew for your packages while keeping just system packages to the default package manager. It has the upside of being separated and more recent, but it can mean duplicate packages are on the system.

KDE Connect gives you what Apple tries to sell you on, while also being free and working with whatever desktop OS you want.
