Never. Not even once.

Never. Not even once.
I love this so much. We use Macs at work but there’s absolutely no reason we couldn’t just use Linux. 60% (guestimated) of the work, across all departments, is done through the browser and the other 40% is software development. I’d much rather have more smart people around than a $2000 locked down laptop.

Everyone knows that there are 88 bank holidays a year, starting with Chreaster on Octember 41st.

Today a friend told me about how, last night, a Google AI summary led to a huge fight between him and his partner. Turns out the AI summary was 100% wrong. I mean yeah, don’t make important decisions based on an AI summary. But a lot of non-tech folks still have no idea how inaccurate those results can be, and even more just plain don’t care.

How did I install that finicky piece of software last time
This. So much this. Every time I start a new project I’m so glad to have these notes to refer back to.

Daily notes. I have a template that prompts me to fill out a number details I might otherwise forget.
A wiki of people that helps me remember details about people I meet or have worked with. Makes it much easier to keep in touch and to remember important dates in their lives.
Sortable todo lists, with due date and urgency information. I can add to the lists directly from any other note using a Dataview formula with the Tasks extension.
Career plans. Project plans. Gardening plans. Recipes (there’s an awesome extension that imports recipes from the web).
Any random writing I might want to do, from short stories to rough drafts of letters to stream of consciousness mind spew that I want to review later.
I use the Auto Note Mover and Dataview extensions, along with backlinks and tags, to keep all of my notes organized automatically. I use the Linter extension to make sure things are formatted nicely. When I started using Obsidian, I used the Importer extension to easily pull in all of my existing notes and lists from Evernote and Google Keep.
Honestly, that barely scratches the surface.

The biggest issue I had was with folder permissions on Android. I also ended up paying for the sync functionality and have zero regrets.

I can personally vouch, having seen this when private equity bought out the company I worked at and significantly cut everyone’s wages while telling us we needed to massively increase productivity. Unchecked greed at its finest.

Not being evil is for the poor and powerless. Rich people are just better than the rest of us and deserve to be able to shit wherever they want.
I joke, but seriously, no one gets as rich as the leaders of all these big companies without hurting a lot of innocent people in the process. Never forget, there are no virtuous billionaires.

Wait. You mean every major tech company going all-in on “AI” was a bad idea. I, for one, am shocked at this revelation.

Emotional rollercoaster.

My 2004 was the newest car I’d had when I bought it in 2018. I don’t plan on ever buying anything newer.

And if you don’t review your new documents very often, the auto-tagging and filtering options make it easy to just go through your inbox when you get a chance, knowing you didn’t miss something.

“Being virtuous is virtue signaling.”
Ok. How about go fuck yourself Mark. Am I vice signaling enough for you now?

I tried that and I’m only seeing truncated articles a few paragraphs long, just like they have on their paywalled pages.

Wait, isn’t their RSS feed only available to subscribers? If not, can you share the link?

Better late than never.

So long as, in the absence of rules, everyone is treated the same. Major social media platforms swing hard right, meaning that leftist positions will be marginalized regardless of the rules or absence thereof.

Can confirm. I’m a bit older, but when I stopped using social media it was like my aquaintances forgot I existed. Sure, close friends would usually still invite me to social events, but even that tapered off after a while. When I’d call someone out for not inviting me, their response was always “but you never shiw up to anything”. It’s not like they don’t know that I’m not on Facebook. What, you think that when you don’t invite me that I’ll just magically know it’s happening? I’m finally getting some people to use Signal groups but that has been an uphill battle.
YT Premium recently updated their terms to include a provision requiring that the majority of your use be from your home country. YT saw how everyone sucked the Netflix teat when they killed sharing, and now they want a piece too.
